As the food starts to digest in the stomach and intestines, you may begin to have other symptoms. Nausea may occur along with diarrhea and vomiting. Abdominal pain is also a common symptom. Lesser Known Food Allergy Symptoms

Some of the most common food allergies are abdominal pain, an itchy swollen throat, and an upset stomach. There are also some food allergy symptoms that are not as well known. Most people think that hives are due to outdoor allergens. After allergens have have been absorbed and then enter into the bloodstream, they will reach the skin. That is when hives or a type of eczema will appear on the surface of the skin. Once allergens have reached the airway, you may begin to experience asthma like symptoms. When an allergen reaches the bloodstream you may also experience lightheadedness. This is due to anaphylaxis (a drop in blood pressure) and weakness. Even though it may be difficult to be sure these symptoms are related to a food allergy, if you have food allergies, you should call your doctor right away. Even if your symptoms appear to be mild they can quickly progress into a life threatening situation.
